RE-POST: Recent Live Shows I have seen
****I decided to re-post because of the warning Google put on the original blog entry this week instead of posting my weekly blog entry Playlist of the Week. It is annoying AF and I did nothing wrong. I had to censor the name of one of the bands that was part of night one at Fireseek event at Zhora Darling. I ended up deleting that post as well. Hopefully this time I will not get slapped with a warning. I will say this, I do NOT like nor really wanted to delete that post but I like it even less when there is an advisory warning on one of my blog posts over a band's name and is forced to edit it because the algorithm hates it. Meanwhile I see worse shit online that gets a pass. ***
This week was a really great week for me. In the course of 7 days, I got to see some live music. It has been awhile since I got to a show. Last Sunday, I saw the Siberian folk band Alash at the Cedar Cultural Center. Alash was fantastic live. Minneapolis was their last live show of their tour. I hope they will come back to Minneapolis, I will definitely see them again. I did get a shirt after their show.
This past Friday I saw 3 out of the 4 bands at night one of the Fireseek event which was in 2 parts, part 1 at Zhora Darling (formerly known as Red Stag Supperclub) and part 2 was at Hook and Ladder. Zwaremachine, Autumn, Burning, and B Mouths (name was purposely censored) were part of night one of the Fireseek event. I got some photos and video footage from both shows. I left Zhora Darling before B Mouths on Friday night because my body was screaming sleep. I do wish I had the energy to see B Mouths but it wasn't meant to be. It was a long week for me between seeing Alash, and having to work around my eye doctor appointment (and working a 10 hour day on Thursday). No regrets though, I was out cold within several minutes when I got home. I am really glad I went to the show and was able to see three of the four bands. It was a fantastic night for live music. I will say I did snag a Zwaremachine CD and t-shirt because gotta support local music in this day and age of streaming, and shit show of an economy. I didn't get to night two of Fireseek because I had plans the following evening to see Princess Mononoke at an AMC theater.
My next two concerts in the coming months I will post here is Visions of Atlantis (next Saturday), the Korean rock band Rolling Quartz in early May, and Babymetal with Bloodywood (Indian folk/metal) and Jinjer (metalcore) in July.
Some thoughts on the music industry and concert scene: I was so not happy when I saw that tickets for Garbage at First Ave were $120 + $19 service fees. I was like "no thank you". I have a trip to Chicago to spend my $ on in less than 2 weeks. Not mad at the band (they should be able to make a living) or the people who work behind the scenes at First Avenue they too need to make a living, but I am mad at AXS and the owners of First Ave. The Yacht Club festival for one day is $150, and for the Garbage show is $139 total. I should note that Garbage will be playing the Yacht Club festival on day 3. Yeah that makes no sense. I have spent about $100 for the Visions of Atlantis show which includes the cost for the VIP meet and greet session, $100 total for Babymetal with Bloodywood and Jinjer. Paying triple digits for those shows is one thing but for Garbage with Starcrawler? Math isn't mathing. Whatever. I am noping out that nonsense. I wanted to support both bands but I can't with that cost of tickets for that show. I am going to Chicago in less than 2 weeks. I need money for that trip. I truly hope this is not the new reality in this dumpster fire of an economy but if so, a lot of people are not going to go to concerts.
