Random musings

I was going to write something different but I felt like this had to be said today especially after last night's Grammys. This morning I saw on social media that Beyonce finally won a Grammy for Album of the Year. I did see her reaction when she won Best Country Album of the Year. I will start off and say that I agree with people who thinks that Lemonade and Renaissance were her stronger albums that definitely should have garnered Grammys of Album of the Year. At the end of the day, Cowboy Carter is a solid album. The people who voted for it clearly felt that the album deserved the award. Of course conservative, white country fans are big mad over Beyonce's 2 Grammy awards, completely unsurprising to me 😄. Imagine living rent free in those freaks' lives.

Since it is Black History month and those conservative white country music fans are bitching and moaning about Beyonce taking up space in country music. I thought I would post a reminder to these morons that Black people created country music. This is NOT up for debate.

Black musician Lesley Riddle heavily influenced The Carter Family.  Black street musician Rufus Payne aka Tee-Tot taught Hank Williams Senior how to play guitar. The banjo is a West African instrument, not an instrument that white people invented.

I have posted a couple of links to articles that goes into a deep dive on the Black History of country music for people to read.

Again, Beyonce and other Black people have the right to be in country music. If you are mad at Beyonce for taking up space, that is a you problem, not a her problem. I will end this blog entry with this dope performance of Beyonce and The Chicks from 6 years ago at the CMAs. For Beyonce to perform with The Chicks who basically was canceled by the racist assholes in Nashville was one of the most amazing performances at an awards show, a big ol' FU from The Chicks and I am all for it 😂. I loved this collaboration between these women. Song is quite good too.

Final thoughts:
reading the comments from unhappy misogynists, boomers, and racists about last night's Grammys was soooo entertaining but at the same time maddening when a lot the hate was directed at women like Beyonce and Chappell Roan. It is common knowledge that Chappell Roan takes her onstage appearance from drag queens. Don't like it? Not my problem nor is it her problem. It is a YOU problem for being ignorant and hateful.  Comparing her to Dee Snider is an insult. That man is transphobic AF, Chappell not so much. I loved Lady Gaga's shout out to the trans community. It is much needed in this current political climate.
