Album of the Week

Last month, I came across the Chinese thrash metal band Anathematise via Unite Asia Anathematise release debut album. The band formed in 2017, and was originally went by the name Dugu. Eventually the band signed to Awakening Records and added 2 new band members. On a whim, I bought a CD copy of the album. Bizarre Tales From the Past and the Future is 55 minutes of pure unadulturated thrash metal bliss. The music definitely has a late '80s/early '90s thrash metal vibe to it with the raw, minimal production. A lot of the music is inspired by the band's favorite cult/b-movie horror films. Super glad I bought this album on a whim. Really digging the metal scene in China. The metal scene there is right up there with Japan with kick ass metal bands.
