Album of the Week

Last week I came across Khan by the Chinese folk death metal band The Samans. I was looking for some interesting "new" heavy metal music either from Taiwan or China. Lo and behold, I discovered The Samans. I read online that the band originally started out as a 2 member electronic band  but evolved into EBM, and then metal (industrial metal, alternative metal), and eventually began incorporating flutes, whistles, and stringed instruments into their sound. I can still hear elements of their EBM past in their music like on the track "Flying Dutchman". What I love about The Samans' music is that it can be both heavy and melodic. Definitely plan on listening to their other albums Weltreich, SagaXMonalogue, and Lionheart (all on Youtube). Really love this band's sound.
