Blutengel: Black Symphonies (An Orchestral Journey)
For this week's Album of the Week, I have chosen the latest Blutengel release Black Symphonies (An Orchestral Journey). The album is a collection of classic Blutengel tracks re-worked into symphonic masterpieces. After seeing clips of the band performing with an orchestra on youtube a couple of years ago, it would make sense that Blutengel would put out an album of songs that has been re-interpretated and given new life as orchestral music. Hearing the songs with an orchestra really gives the songs a whole new sound to them. I particularly loved "Soultaker", "Uber Den Horizont", "Reich Mir Die Hand", and "You Walk Away". My only quibble is that I wished that the band included tracks like "Angels of the Dark", "Forever", and/or "In The Distance" from Demon Kiss, and "Singing Dead Men" and/or "Beauty and Delight" from Labyrinth. That aside, I enjoy this album immensely. It is definitely a must have for Blutengel fans.
