An Evening with Belly at The Fine Line on 10.05.2018

Last night I went to the Fine Line to spend two hours with the band Belly. Just like in 2016 when the band toured for the first time in many years, there was no opening act. It was two hours of Belly bliss. They had two sets with a 10-15 minute intermission.

Here is a photo from their 2016 tour. I went to their show in Chicago because I was in town for the Lush reunion tour.

The first set consisted of mostly new songs from the new album Dove, and the second half of music from Star and King. Dove isn't the worst album I have heard this year but it is not my favorite album of the year at the same time. I personally was there to hear the band's older material. I was not disappointed. The band played all my favorite tracks from Star and King. I even gotten a few songs uploaded on Youtube. I read online a couple of years ago at the First Avenue show the band forgot to play "Gepetto", well needless to say they did not forget this time around ;).

A part of me wished that I had gotten a seat upstairs. I swear, the older I get, the more exhausting it is to do these packed shows standing all night long. I can do it at the Kilted Farmer shows because they are smaller and not as crowded but at shows like Belly and Chvrches (which I am glad I did not buy a GA ticket). It was an interesting, fun show last night. There was a group of Belly fans from the Shimmer FB group page who traveled to Minneapolis for the show (and for tonight's show in Chicago). I was impressed that the band was well aware of their loyal fans from that Facebook group. I got lucky and was behind someone who was a foot shorter than me and that does NOT happen to me at concerts until tonight so my view wasn't half bad.

Here are some of the photos I took from last night's show. I will post the rest of the photos in the comings days but in the meantime here are some from last night's show.
