My current favorite songs of the week
TGIF! For a short week, it felt like the usual five day work week. For a short work week, I was able to knock out a sizable playlist of my favorite songs. I got the usual faves and some newbies.
One of my favorite new bands I have discovered this earlier year Ultranoire has a new EP out titled Isolation. They remind me quite a bit of Depeche Mode, more so than De/Vision. I am very much excited to hear another album from the band. I really dig their first two albums quite a bit. "Fading Into You" is my personal favorite track.
If any of my readers are familiar with the work of Noblesse Oblige, Valerie Renay has a solo album album called Your Own Shadow. As a fan of both Noblesse Oblige and Valerie's solo work, I will just say that Your Own Shadow is a definite contrast to the more poppier sounding Noblesse Oblige. I dug the dark, hypnotic droning that permeated through out the album.
Before I left for work this morning I discovered that Dessa has released "Half of You" as a single from her latest album Chime. you can see the video on her Bandcamp page. I love this song. There are two versions of the song, a live band version and Takenobu remix. I prefer the live band version. It has a more organic sound to the sound. I love the live vibe of the song as well.
A couple of days ago, I discovered and fell in love with the music of the Swedish synthpop band Train to Spain through the Facebook page Modern Synthpop. I definitely recommend checking their music. I love their music. Very '80s sounding.
Songs to check out:
"Sailor" by Valerie Renay
"Half of You" (Live Band Version) by Dessa
"Fading into You" by Ultranoire
"Alethia" by Zanias
"Beginnings" by Autumn (US band)
"Believe in Love" by Train to Spain
"Brace Yourself!" by Solitary Experiments
