Playlist of the week

For a long time I have been meaning to create a playlist that showcased the local music scene here in the Twin Cities but with every attempt, the playlist didn't feel or sound right. I finally created a playlist that I was happy with over the weekend. I chose not to include Prince because he is an entity of his own. I hate saying this but putting his on the playlist would have been so obvious and predictable.

I also wanted this mix to feature some of my favorite bands in the dark underground scene like Autumn, Zwaremachine, Promidal and The Rope. I think the goth/industrial scene in Minnesota is overlooked in a town that is mostly known for either Prince or The Replacements/Husker Du.  I especially had to highlight the list with 2-3 tracks from my favorite artists/bands like Autumn, The Rope, Zwaremachine, Tiny Deaths, Aby Wolf, and Promidal.

To switch things up I also threw in some local hip hop by the likes of Lizzo, Dessa, P.O.S, and Sophia Ehris. These artists are evident that hip hop music isn't a big old raging ball of misogyny.
