What I am currently listening to
This has definitely been an interesting week for music. I have spent most of this week listening to the wonderful sounds of Rhiannon Giddens. I even ended up buying her two solo albums Freedom Highway and Tomorrow is My Turn within the past 24 hours. This is a first for me but I just absolutely have fallen in love with Rhiannon's music. I so recommend checking out her version of Waterboy. Her voice is stunning and her skills on the fiddle absolutely fantastic! I can really hear Rhiannon channel her idol Odetta in the song.
I also bought this week Dessa's first album A Badly Broken Code. Good week for new music, makes up for a shit week I had.
I have been taking a break from all the postpunk, industrial, synthpop, and symphonic metal I listen to this week. Sometimes my ears needs to hear something different which is why I have been listening a lot to my Americana playlist as well as Rhiannon Giddens' albums.
Really didn't listen to a lot of podcasts this week. The new episode of The Vanished was really frustrating to listen to because of how the local law enforcement handled the case (sheer laziness and insensitive as hell). Of course I had to check out Rhiannon Gidden's podcast Aria Code which delves into the world of opera (Rhiannon is classically trained in opera which explains her amazing vocal range), not really an opera fan but I am liking what I have heard so far.
